The International Coastal Cleanup (ICC)-Philippines will celebrate the
26th Annual International Coastal Cleanup on September 17, 2011. For
this year, the Department of Tourism (DOT) in celebrating the World
Tourism Day through the Philippine Commission on Sports Scuba Diving
(PCSSD) shall be coordinating all activities.
The ICC is a volunteer-based initiative to reduce impacts of marine debris which contributes to climate change and biodiversity loss. Each year, the volunteers have been mobilized to form a "litter army" to clean the waterways and collect information on the sources of debris for education or pollution prevention campaigns. To sustain this initiative, the ICC-Philippines is inviting volunteers to clean the waterways (esteros), shorelines, lakes, surface of adjacent seas and underwater areas. All concerned individuals from both public and private sectors are encouraged to join this activity. For more information, contact Ms. Josie Lanuzo, PCSSD at telephone no.: (02) 524-2242 or Ms. Lilian Reyes, ICC-Philippines at telephone no.: (02) 418-0760, or Mr. Gerry Reyes at mobile phone no.: 0916-411-6446. - https://www.affordablecebu.com/
