Latest Update: Storm Ramon Intensifies

At 5:00 PM today, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) issued an announcement that Tropical Depression "Ramon" becomes a storm and continues to threaten Eastern Visayas and Northeastern Mindanao.
Having a speed of 65kph near the center of the storm, PAGASA now raises a Storm Warning Signal No. 2 in different areas of Visayas and Mindanao:

• Southern Leyte
• Eastern Samar

Mindanao

• Surigao del Norte
• Siargao Island
• Surigao del Sur
• Dinagat Island

- potential impacts of the storm signal no. 2 areas are moderate damage to agriculture, rice and corn adversely affected, few large trees might be uprooted, large number of nipa and cogon houses partially or totally unroofed, some old galvanized iron roofing may roll off, travel by all types of sea vessels is risky

- potential impacts of the storm signal no. 1 areas are twigs and branches of trees may be broken, some banana plants may tilt or land flat on the ground, rice in flowering stage may suffer significant damage, some nipa and cogon houses may be partially unroofed, sea travel of small seacrafts and fishing boats is risky
