First Conference on Twice Exceptional Children

The Resources for Educational and Allied Consultancy Habitat (R.E.A.C.H.), Inc. in partnership with the Sharing Our Caring Foundation, Inc. will hold its First Conference on Twice Exceptional Children with the theme "Meeting the Needs of Gifted Children With Learning Disabilities” in Hongkong, China from July 28 to August 1, 2012. The conference aims to:

1. bring a diverse audience together to discuss the full spectrum of Learning Disabilities (LDs) and ongoing trends and issues and experiences in the Philippines and other neighbouring countries on the issue of twice exceptional; thereby enhancing the educator’s ability and other professionals to address the individual needs of gifted students with LDs;
2. gain knowledge on how to identify gifted students who have subtle learning disabilities;
3. enable the service providers to acquire strategies on how to teach twice exceptional students to be their own advocates;
4. equip the educator-participants knowledge on how to provide a nurturing environment in their respective schools that values individual differences with the use of technology; and
5. change the way in which the professionals look for, serve, and support learners who are gifted and also have various additional exceptionalities,
   

The participants to this activity are school principals/school administrators, policy makers/local government officials/non-government organizations (NGOs), general classroom/special education (SPED) teachers, guidance counsellors, psychologists/nurses, occupational/speech therapists, related/auxiliary service providers, parents and students in related field.
