The National Council on Disability Affairs (NCDA) will conduct the First Community-Based Rehabilitation (CBR) World Congress with the theme "Community-Based Rehabilitation–The Key to Realizing Convention on Rights of Persons with Disabilities” on November 26-28, 2012 at the Jaypee Palace Hotel and Convention Centre, Agra, India.
The Congress aims to:
- ensure common understanding of CBR among the stakeholders;
- enhance cross-sectoral involvement in CBR;
- operationalize CBR guidelines and sharing of good/best practices;
- promote an inclusive business development;
- promote CBR national and regional networks;
- create CBR global network; and
- accelerate the achievement of Convention Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD) and Millennium Development Goal (MDG) through CBR.
The Congress assures an excellent platform to network with CBR practitioners, representatives from disabled people’s organizations, parents organizations, rehabilitation experts, specialists, local/international non-government organizations (NGOs), policy makers, government officials, and other stakeholders for learning, sharing and replicating good and validated practices from all over the world.
