Sustainable Food Systems for Food Security and Nutrition

The Philippines will join other nations in the celebration of the World Food Day (WFD) with the theme Sustainable Food Systems for Food Security and Nutrition on October 16, 2013.

In line with this, the Department of Agriculture (DA) and the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) in partnership with other government agencies like the National Nutrition Council (NNC), Food and Nutrition Research Institute (FNRI), and the National Agricultural and Fishery Council (NAFC) will conduct the Nationwide On-the-Spot Mosaic Making Contest by level on the following dates:

The Contest is open to all Grades IV to VI pupils, not older than 12 years old and certified by the school principal and enrolled in any public and DepEd-accredited/recognized private elementary schools nationwide.

The mosaic entry shall be an original creation of eligible participants depicting the theme of the celebration. Only the best three 3 mosaics shall be selected for each level, based on the following criteria:

Originality

Visual Impact
20%
Creative use of agricultural and fishery products
30%
Relevance to the theme
30&
Total
100%

Participation of both public and private schools shall be subject to the no-disruption-of¬classes policy as stipulated in DepEd Order No. 9, s. 2005 entitled Instituting Measures to Increase Engaged Time-on-Task and Ensuring Compliance Therewith.
