The Eid’l Fitr Festival aims to build a better understanding among Filipinos and appreciation of their ethnic, racial and religious diversity of the country; to showcase the richness of the cultural heritage of Muslims in the Philippines; to forge stronger social, economic and cultural partnership between Muslims and non-Muslims; and to create a positive environment of mutual trust and confidence among Muslims and non-Muslims.
The Festival will have the following components:
- Country Displays by Islamic embassies in the Philippines, which dramatize the cultural link between the Philippines and their countries;
- Institutional Exhibits by local government units (LGUs), government and donor agencies working on peace and development initiatives;
- Trade Fair promoting products from Mindanao;
- Photo-Essay Exhibit entitled " How Islam Came to the Philippines” by the National Historical Commission (NHC) of the Philippines;
- Fashion Exhibit on traditional Muslim attires in the Philippines;
- Interactive Salam Villages which bring to light traditional Muslim forms of art and tourist spots in the five (5) provinces of ARMM;
- Cultural Presentations which showcase the richness and diversity of the cultural heritage of Filipino Muslims; and
- On-site Marketing Promotion dubbed "Gateway to ARMM” that is open only to students who, upon registration to the Festival, will be given a "Tourist Booklet” with questions about the ARMM and its five (5) provinces. The students will have to visit the Salam Villages and the ARMM Trade Pavilion to be able to answer the questions and have their booklets stamped. Prizes will be given away to students who can answer all questions correctly.
The pupils and students of all public and private schools in Metro Manila are encouraged to visit the Festival.
