The Celebration aims to:
- promote, enhance and instill nationwide awareness and appreciation of the importance and value of statistics to the different sectors of the society; and
- elicit the cooperation and support of the general public in upgrading the quality and standards of statistics in the country.
The suggested NSM activities to be undertaken include symposia, workshops, orientation seminars, exhibits, lectures, film showing, statistical quiz, publication of statistical reports, indicators, other relevant information, among others, which are focused on the theme or the region's selected sub-theme, if any.
In this connection, DepEd Regions I, V, VI, VIII, IX, X, XI, XII and Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR) will coordinate with the Regional Statistical Coordination Committees (RSCCs) through the National Statistical Coordination Board-Regional Units (NSCB-RUs) regarding their proposed NSM activities in their respective regions.
The other DepEd Regions (II, III, IV-A, IV-B, VII, XIII, and the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (ARMM) are requested to coordinate with the RSCC Chairperson, who is the Regional Director of the National Economic Development Authority (NEDA) or with the RSCC Co-Chairperson who is the Regional Director of National Statistics Office (NSO) for the NSM activities with the RDC Sectoral Concerns on Macroeconomic Development Administration (SCMDA).
The DepEd National Capital region (NCR) can forward its proposed NSM activities to the NSM Secretariat at NSCB, 2nd Floor, Midland, Buendia Bldg., 403, Sen. Gil Puyat Avenue, Makati City.
The DepEd regions' proposed NSM activities should be submitted following the enclosed prescribed format to the aforecited units/offices on or before August 31, 2012 in order to synchronize all efforts for the Celebration.
