The Celebration aims to:
- highlight ongoing work in the conservation of Philippine cultural heritage;
- increase appreciation of Philippine cultural heritage including overseas Filipinos and help build bridges with them;
- give wider exposure of the rich cultural heritage of the Filipinos; and
- encourage people who are similarly interested in the conservation and preservation of Filipino cultural heritage.
This year's Celebration will give the people a glimpse of the legacies of the past and how it remains to shape the present and the future. It is a recognition and celebration of the different aspects of the National Cultural Heritage (NCH) - the traditional art forms and practices, important cultural structures both movable and immovable, and other objects of national importance whether tangible or intangible.
In support of the said celebration, the regional and division offices, including schools are enjoined to support and undertake activities such as music/dance/theater performances, film/visual arts exhibits, visits to museums or cultural sites, or any other forms relevant to the theme.
Likewise, the posting of a tarpaulin is requested to be displayed at their respective areas throughout the month of May. Enclosed is the specification for the tarpaulin. [Download National Heritage Month Tarpaulin Design]
