2011 Gigantic Christmas Decoration Making Contest

The Department of Education (DepEd), through the Health and Nutrition Center (HNC), and Colgate Palmolive Philippines, Incorporated (CPPI) will conduct the 2011 Gigantic Christmas Decoration Making Contest, as a major highlight of the School Children's Oral Health Awareness Week and School Health Month Celebration in October.
The contest aims to:
  1. promote oral health and enviromental awareness;
  2. instill among the pupils the value of waste management by recycling Colgate sachets into Christmas decoration; and
  3. promote creativity and resourcefulness among the pupils.
The contest is open to all pupils from public elementary schools nationwide.

The seventeen (17) regional winners and three (3) national winners will be selected. The regional judging shall be held on November 29 and the national judging, on December 5, 2011. The notification of winners for the 1st, 2nd and 3rd national winners shall be done on December 9, 2011. Prizes will be delivered at the regional office. The contest mechanics/guidelines and lists of prizes are enclosed for ready reference.

The regional and division offices are requested to support this project by encouraging all public elementary school pupils to participate in this collective endeavor.

Contest Mechanics:

"2011 GIGANTIC CHRISTMAS DECORATION COLGATE SACHET CONTEST"

I. Objectives of the Contest:
  1. Promote Oral Health Awareness by forming a daily toothbrushing habit with fluoride toothpaste.
  2. Promote care for environment by recycling used toothpaste sachets.
  3. Promote creativity and team work among schools.
II. What is the theme?
Christmas-inspired craft using recycled Colgate Toothpaste Sachets
III. Who may join the contest?
All public elementary schools are encouraged to participate in the creation of the division entry.
IV. What will be the size of the Division entry?
  • Should be at least:
    • Height - 8 feet
    • Width - 6 feet
    • Length - 6 feet
  • Each entry must make use of at least 3,000 pieces of sachets
V. How will the division entry/creation be submitted?
  • The Division must come up/create 1 entry utilizing Colgate Sachets.
  • Division to submit to the regional office 22 in x 28 in colored pictures (5 angles: angle 1-up, angle 2 - front, angle 3 - left, angle 4 - right, angle 5 - back)
  • Division must maintain and preserve their entry until the final judging of the national winners.
VI. How will the entry be judged?

VIII. How will the entries be created?
The Division Office, will encourage all schools to participate and come up with the list of participating schools. The Division through the Health and Nutrition Section will conceptualize the overall design of the division entry (i.e. Complete Nativity setting, Big Christmas tree, Big Parol, etc.)

Specific Christmas decoration entry to be assembled at the Division Office/designated schools.

The Division Health and Nutrition Section will take the lead in the implementation of the contest mechanics.

The Division will designate a coordinator among the focal persons of the participating schools to take the lead in creation of the final entry submitted by the participating schools. Division to assign a place to assemble and display created decoration.
