1. Festival Background
1.1 Malaysia will be organising the International Children's Arts and Culture Festival 2011 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia from 6th to 12th December 2011. This Festival is aimed at promoting children's artistic talent for music, choral recitation and dance. It is important to realize that the children today are gems of the future generations who will inherit and perpetuate our legacy. Therefore, their multi-talented skills should be developed to the highest levels and given due recognition.2. Date & Venue
The objectives of the festival among others are to recognize the exceptional talent of children in arts, to enhance networking and to strengthen camaraderie among the children from participating countries. This programme comes under the auspices of the Prime Minister's Office and is coordinated by the National Department for Culture and Arts (Ministry of Information, Communication and Culture Malaysia).
The "Amazing Kids" theme, chosen for this year's Festival, highlights the excellent talent of the children in arts especially in music, choral, and dance. The young talents, often at par and at times surpassing their adult counterparts, are a national jewel to be treasured.
1.2 Participating Countries
Eight (8) countries will participate in the festival including Malaysia. The seven (7) countries invited to participate at the Festival are:
- Republic of Korea
- People's Republic of China
- Japan
- Singapore
- Philippines
- Qatar
- India
The International Children's Art and Culture Festival 2011 will be held form 6th to 12th December 2011 in Kuala Lumpur, the capital city of Malaysia. Participants will arrive on 6th December 2011 and will depart on 12th December 2011.3. Participants
- Invited countries are requested to send a maximum of 40 participants comprising a Head of Delegation, Choir/Music/Dance Instructor and a liaison officer.
- The average age for Dance/Choir members should be between 7 to 12 years of age; and for Youth Musicians, it should be between 7 to 15 years of age.
- Category of Performance: Dance, Choral and Music or a combination of all three.
Participating countries need to prepare performance as follows:5. Programme Activities
- Performance for GALA; seven minutes.
- Performance for 'country performance'; 30 minutes.
- Performances for community activities
Participating countries are advised to adhere to the following activities:
All participants will participate in recreation activities such as community programmes and visits will be organised by the organising committee in order to encourage all the children to interact with one another regardless of their area of speciality.
ENTRY REQUIREMENT
1. Airfare Arrangements
Groups are requested to arrange for return air tickets from their home country to Kuala Lumpur.2. Accommodation, Transportation and Meals Arrangements
Malaysia as a host country will cover the local costs for:3. Facilities provided are subject to the official schedule of the Festival and to a maximum of 40 participants.
- Accommodation (twin sharing)
- Local transportation
- Meals
4. The host country will bear the expenses of up to 40 participants.
5. Participating countries with more than 40 participants will bear the cost of accommodation, transportaion and meals during their stay in Malaysia.
6. Visa
Participants are advised to contact the Malaysian Embassy in their respective countries on matters concerning entry visa.7. Arrival and Departure
Delegates are advised to arrive at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA). Malaysia on 6th December 2011 and depart from KLIA on 12th December 2011. The respective officers from the Organising Committee will assist and arrange for transfers from the airport to the hotel and vice-versa on the arrival and departure time.8. Organising Committee:
