"Looking at your systems specs (see above under your question) we see your system can support a SATA III (6.0 Gb/s) drives. And looking at the Crucial specs for the SSD it too is SATA III. So from a SATA I/O speed perspective its compatible.

An as you have managed to see the drive externally via a USB connection we know the drive is functional.

And now you state you have also replace the SATA cable. Still with no luck.

At this point I would put the original HD back in to make sure the SATA cable connection on the logic board is still working. If the original drive works we have isolated it back down to the SSD unit and the way it was prepared.

Using the external SATA to USB connection for your SSD drive lets open Disk Utility from the HD thats now running your system. Keeping it on the First Aid tab, lets take a look at the drive:

In the left column click on the drive its self (most left icon). Then looking at the bottom you should see to columns of information in the bottom right column you should see this: Partition Map Scheme: GUID Partition Table If not your drive is not properly prepped to be a bootable drive for Mac OS-X. Use the Erase tab to reformat the drive and make sure you set the format for Mac OS Extended (Journaled).

Next if your Map scheme is correct you should click on the second icon just below the base icon of your drive this is the partition icon. Again look at the bottom information section here in the first column second entry you should see this: Format: Mac OS Extended (Journaled) it too must be the correct format type so OS-X can be made bootable."

Having the exact same issue. Any news about the solution?

This is a common issue with both early and late 2011 MacBook Pros. I read somewhere that this issue is caused by a failure on the motherboard. I believe Louis Rossmann pointed this out (New York based fixer and YouTube poster - https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCl2mFZo...). It only stops SSDs and not HDs being used internally. I don’t know if Samsung or Kingston SSDs are useless in the the 2011 MacBook Pro so if anyone out there has had the problem with Crucial but not other SSDs please post and let us know.

"Hi, I'm currently experience this same problem with a Crucial MX500 SSD (500gb) in a early 2011 Macbook Pro 13"".

Last October I installed the new SSD without formatting it, and following the Mac instructions I installed de Mac OS in the new SSD and it functioned properly.

4 months later my mac didn't boot and by restarting in safe mode (holding alt/option key) my SSD doesn't show up.

I clicked on ""recover system from the internet"" and clicked on ""disk utility"".

Finally the SSD shows up but I can't fix it or repair it and the error is the following:

""Volume verification error. Files system not recognized""

Checking The Partitions Map Scheme it says ""Master Booting Register (MBR)"".

I think my SATA cable is OK and there is no hardware malfunctions, but I'm going to connect my old HD in order to discard this possibility.

Looks like i will have to format my SSD in order to reinstall the OS software, but I will try to connect my SSD via usb-STA cable before in order to save my information as I don't want to lose it in the format.

Could this Macbook Pro 2011 error in SSD be fixed?

If I repair my SSD (formating and installing OS) will this error repeat in the future?

Thanks for the support!"
