Powerbox History Museum

The Powerbox Learning Services (PLS) presents the Powerbox History Museum, a collection of educational and curricular-based presentations aimed at providing additional learning through interactive media for public and private elementary and high school students nationwide this School Year 2011-2012.
This is a travelling museum that features exhibit which aims to promote better social awareness among the students by engaging them visually and interactively in topics of Social Studies such as history, the environment, culture and the society. The use of tangible materials enables them to relate more directly with topics unlike the pictures/illustrations in the textbooks.

To augment formal education with fun and interesting learning activities at minimal cost, the PLS includes in the exhibit dioramas that depict events and artifacts from different historical periods, as well as film showings of historical and geographic footages and documentaries such as:

Dioramas
  1. Evolution of Man which depicts the stages of the evolution of man from Genus Australopithecus to Homo sapiens or,
  2. Philippine Setting, series of dioramas focusing on the evolution and selected natural and cultural history of the Filipino people such as (a) Cagayan Valley Homo Erectus, (b) Pottery Making in Bicol, (c) Tabon Cave in Palawan, (d) Philippine Rice Terraces, (e) First Filipinos and (f) the First Philippine Barter.
  3. World's Most Famous Ancient Civilizations such as (a) Mesopotamian, (b) Egyptian, (c) Roman, (d) Chinese, (e) Ancient Greek, and (f) other famous historical structures of the world.
Simulated Artifacts
  1. Cuneiform - considered as the world's earliest form of ortography,
  2. Oracle Bone - the earliest form of Chinese writing,
  3. Sundial - earliest means of measuring time,
  4. Mayan Calendar - considered as the most accurate calendar in the world, and
  5. Cyrillic Alphabet - a form of writing that is able to express Slavonic sounds.
Film Showing (Titles from the National Geographic Collection)
  1. Lost Kingdoms of the Maya,
  2. Egypt: Quest for Eternity,
  3. Secrets of the Great Walls of China,
  4. Alexander, the Great, and
  5. Cleopatra's Palace.
The traveling exhibit offers a complete museum experience without the inconvenience and exposure of having to go to one. Learning history and culture is an indispensable part of the students' learning process en route to developing a sense of global citizenship, while maintaining national pride.
