DTI Alerts Buyers of Christmas Lights to Be Extra Careful

Many Filipinos are very price conscious. They tend to choose and buy affordable or cheap items. But in choosing or buying  Christmas Lights, would you prefer to buy those very cheap ones but are prone to destroy much earlier or more worst, prone to fire?

The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) alerts consumers to be vigilant and to buy only Christmas lights that bear the Import Commodity Clearance (ICC) mark to ensure the quality and safe use of the product.
Consumers are encouraged to look for the brands of Christmas lights that have passed the required safety tests based on the Philippine National Standards (PNS) 189:2000 with the ICC numbers issued from 2008 to 2010.

Here are the DTI recommendations to ensure quality and safe Christmas lights.



Do You Use Quality and Safe Christmas Lights in Your House?


To ensure the quality of your Christmas lights, you must consider the following:

1. WIRE: It's outside diameter size should be 1.5mm




2. PACKAGE: The following should be indicated in the package: name and address of the manufacturer / importer / distributor, brand name, rated voltage and wattage of the set, rated voltage and wattage of the lamps, the phrase "For Indoor Use Only", batch/lot number or bar code, standard used (PNS 189:2000), and the country of origin of the package.


3. ICC MARK STICKER:         


This mark suggests that the product passes the DTI standards.
