This Project entitled "For Love of the Word: Workshops on Teaching Philippine Literature in High School and College", is geared towards retooling and upgrading the skills of literature teachers, particularly those in the public schools, both at the secondary and tertiary levels.
After the success of the workshops held in Manila, Iloilo and Cebu Cities, the next workshops will be held on August 8 at the Juan Luna Hall, University of the Philippines (UP), Baguio City and on October 10 at the Science and Technology (ST) Annex, Naga College Foundation (NCF), Naga City, Bicol.
The workshops aim to:
- promote Philippine literature and to assert the continuing relevance in the educational curriculum and in nation-building;
- provide critical guidance and resource materials to readers and teachers /educators;
- foster the reading habit to expand the readership of books especially of Philippine literature; and
- enable the authors to interact with their readers, the better way to get their feedback and to relate with them both intellectualy and creatively.
The participants to the workshop in Baguio are teachers from various high schools and colleges in Baguio City and from the Cordillera region.
