Your changing body means you may need to change up your act — but these made-for-moms-to-be moves are sure to hit the spot.
"Now that I'm into my second trimester, I'm feeling better, so my partner and I are raring to have sex again. Are there specific sex positions during pregnancy that are better than others?"
All of these physical realities, however, don’t have to end up being physical limitations when it comes to sex positions during pregnancy — as long as you start getting a little creative with your poses. And who knows — you may even discover that some pregnant sex positions are keepers in your boudoir repertoire even after your baby’s birth (well, if you can find the time and energy, that is). Assuming you’ve got the all-clear from your practitioner to live it up in the bedroom, these pregnant sex positions will keep you both comfortable and having fun:
Side-lying positions. Lying on your sides front-to-front or front-to-back (spooning) are often the most comfortable sex positions during pregnancy. Both options keep you off your back, plus you won’t have to worry about holding up the weight of your belly (and you won’t feel like your partner has to support your weight either!). Since you’ll both be able to lie down, you can get busy in a slow, relaxed way.
Man on top. The missionary position is fine for quickies, as long as your man keeps his weight off you by supporting himself with his arms. But if your partner likes to have his hands free during the main event (more pleasure for you!), you can also try this edge-of-the-bed move: Lie on your back on the bed, and then scooch down so that your bottom is at the foot of the bed and your legs are dangling down to the floor. Then have your guy kneel or stand in front of you for prime access. To make yourself more comfortable, you may want to prop a couple of pillows under your back.
Woman on top. This classic "cowgirl” move is a great pregnant sex position because it doesn’t put any pressure on your belly, and it enables you to control the depth of penetration and clitoral stimulation. One thing to keep in mind: Late in pregnancy, when your belly is bigger than you ever thought possible, you may not be able to move with the greatest of ease in this position.
Rear entry. There are plenty of ways to play with this position, a favorite during pregnancy because it allows him access without having to maneuver around your belly. Here are a few sexy scenarios to try:
- The policeman: You lean against the wall, facing it with your hands spread, while he "searches” you from behind.
- The lap pose: He sits on a chair and you sit on his lap facing away from him.
- The mattress hold: This is a variation of you on all fours, except with your arms and head on the mattress (to keep you from having to hold up all that belly weight with your arms) and your partner entering from behind.
