Before doing the following steps below, make sure you bring the needed requirement when sending money thru Western Union:
- Bring your valid ID.
Then you may proceed to step 1.
Step 1
If you are a first-time customer of Western Union, you are required to fill-out the Western Union Send Money Form. The Send Money form has two types: INTERNATIONAL and DOMESTIC. If you are outside the Philippines and you want to send money to the Philippines, you must use the International send money form. If you are in the Philippines and you want to send money within the Philippines, you must use the Domestic send money form.

Step 2
Give this Send Money form to the Customer Representative (Agent employee). As a first-time customer, the Customer Representative may require you to present your valid ID.
Some of the VALID IDS in the Philippines
Other acceptable IDs are PhilHealth ID, Homeowner/Village Associations ID, Police Clearance Certificate, Alien Certificate of Registration, Firearm License, Certification from National Council for the Welfare of Disabled Persons (NCWDP) or other government-issued ID.
Step 3
Check the information in the print-out given to you. Sign the Receipt that contains the Money Transfer Control Number (MTCN).
Step 4
Call or text your RECEIVER (the person who will receive the money you sent) and give him the details of the transaction such as the:
- AMOUNT OF MONEY sent
- Money Transfer Control Number (MTCN)
- SENDER'S NAME (the name of the person sending the money)
- SENDER'S ADDRESS (Country and City/State)
Without the MTCN, the RECEIVER cannot successfully receive the money. So, MTCN is a very important information that you should keep and take note after sending the money.
Tips
- As a sender, do not give the details of the transaction to anyone except to your receiver. This is to avoid being scammed by some people who knows how to fake their identity (identity thief).
