Chief Girl Scout Medal Presentation Ceremony

The Girl Scouts of the Philippines (GSP) will hold the Chief Girl Scout Medal Presentation Ceremony on November 14, 2011, Monday, 9:00 a.m. at the Plenary Hall of the Philippine International Convention Center (PICC), Pasay City with Ms. Lea Salonga as guest of honor and speaker. The GSP offers programs which are meaningful and responsive to the young women's needs and interests. One of these is the Chief Girl Scout Medal Scheme (CGSM), a special program created in 1975 encouraging Senior and Cadet Girl Scouts (young women aged 15-17) to initiate and implement a one-year community project in their respective barangays focusing on health, cultural heritage, livelihood and ecology. Now on its 35th year, the Chief Girl Scout Award remains the GSP's most prestigious Award. To date, it has a total of 5,578 recipients.

This year, the GSP wi11 honor 505 young women who have successfully undertaken various community development projects under the Scheme from all over the country.

Expected number of guests is about 3,500 from all over the country including the awardees with their parents, troop leaders, GSP officials, and the community members who will bear witness to the joyous and memorable event.

In view of this, Senior and Cadet Girl Scouts (High School students) who will be awarded during the ceremony will be excused from their classes, and chaperons of awardees (troop leaders/teachers, school officials) are allowed to attend on official time only.
