The objectives of the activity are to:
- conduct an inventory and present to the participants the existing body of knowledge on Bicol history and culture;
- deepen their understanding of Bicol history and cultural heritage surrounding burial practices and their implications for Bicol and Filipino spirituality and determination (kakanyahan);
- show to them the importance of the Bicol river system as basis for early Filipino community building and as the key to future archaeological and historical research in Bicol; and
- explore and discuss to them the present local government directions towards identification, preservation and promotion of Bicol cultural heritage as basis for tourism development, and their possible consideration or inclusion in academic agenda for research.
The target participants to this activity are teachers, professors and educators from both public and private schools.
