2012 MTG Qualifying Examination and International Mathematics and Science Competitions

The Mathematics Trainers’ Guild (MTG), Philippines will conduct the 2012 MTG Qualifying Examination and International Math and Science Competitions on July 21, 2012 at the selected MTG Training Centers which will be announced in the MTG website: www.mtgphil.org.
The qualifying examination aims to:
  1. evaluate the breadth of the students’ mathematical knowledge and skills;
  2. select superior students in the field of Mathematics for further training and advancement;
  3. provide the Filipino youth with the appropriate avenue to enhance their mathematical skills through phases of intensive Mathematics training programs; and
  4. develop the mathematical potentials of the Mathematics promising students to meet the international Mathematics standards.
The participants in the qualifying examination are the Mathematics-inclined or Mathematics promising public and private elementary pupils and high school students in all regions nationwide.

Students who passed the examination will be eligible to enroll as trainees in the twelve (12)-Saturday Mathematical Challenge for Filipino Kids Training Program (MCFKTP) where they can have the opportunity to participate in the different international correspondence mathematics competitions as follows:
  1. Mathematics Olympiad for Elementary and Middle Schools (MOEMS);
  2. American Mathematics Competitions (AMC) - 8, 10, 12;
  3. Canadian Open Mathematics Challenge (CMOC);
  4. Canadian Mathematics Competitions (CMC) – Pascal, Caley and Fermat Contests;
  5. Rio TINTO Big Science Competition; and
  6. International Competition and Assessment for Schools (ICAS) - Mathematics, Science and English.
Furthermore, the MTG Philippines will give sixteen (16) free slots to every region for the public school students to participate in the Australian Mathematics Competititons. The breakdown of the free slots are as follows:

1. Middle Primary Division(for incoming Grades III and IV)4 slots
2. Upper Primary Division(for incoming Grades V and VI)4 slots
3. Junior Division(for incoming Grades VII and VIII (1st year and 2nd year)4 slots
4. Intermediate Division(for incoming Grades IX and X (3rd year and 4th year)4 slots
