Daniel Helms, anytime you have a certain area on the touch screen that is unresponsive, suspect the digitizer. This problem can occur without a cracked or otherwise damaged digitizer. It is good practice to try a factory reset etc., but if that doesn't work, you should replace the digitizer or display assembly. Since the digitizer and the LCD are fused together, you will need an LCD separator and other tools to replace the digitizer. Replacing the complete display assembly will make the task easier. I hope this helps. Good luck.

Please....Buy a two dollar lighter that uses a piece of qurtz as an ignition source..electrical discharge... not the type with a piece of flint inside. the main difference and clue you have the right one is, the flint one has the rollers on top you run your thumb across as you press down on the button/trigger to release its gas for ignition. The lighter you want has just one button/ trigger. First vent or empty butane gas..release valve on bottom. Then remove the qurtz ignighter from the lighters housing and place on you phones dead screen click/ press it a couple of times..for me three times. Dead zone/dead bar fixed.. no more gost touches ithier. Fixed... 2.00 dollars... but keep ignighter round incase screen goes dead again but after a couple of clicks screen permant fix for me. For a detailed youtube video of the process, search keywords screen fix ignighter.... the error is a digitizer fault, often due to your phone overheating for long peirodes at a time. The quartz igniter generates around 350 to 400 oms to the lcd screen and attached digitizer ..harmless to your phone and you... this electrical discharge that awakens the dead zone like magic. No costly repairs of digitizer and lcd screen

I had this same problem as above. One dead line about a half an inch from the top of the screen. My phone is still under the one year manufacturer's warranty, so I sent it out for repair through my carrier, which is free to do. It came back perfect, then about a month after, started again. I've had random issues with the digitizer on this phone since I got it, and even exchanged the first one I got within the return period because i had major issues in the first 4 days. When I noticed the same problems with the new phone I figured maybe it was a software issue. I've done a software update since, and it fixed some of the other issues, but clearly this is a hardware issue that affected a mass amount of these models. I was hoping to update to the G4 eventually when it comes out, but this has me skeptical!

This just started happening to me after using the LG G2 since 12/07/2013. I hadn't thought about the drawing "test", but sure enough, it showed where the area was not responding which is consistent with the non functioning keyboard areas). Other than entering passwords requiring these letters/numbers on the affected keyboard area, the solution I'm pursuing is to change the passwords (needed to do that anyway) to use working letters/numbers. Hopefully, this solution will work until my contract is up in November with Spring, then I can dump them and the LG phone. Too bad as I really liked the LG G2, but seems like a lot of folks are experiencing similar problems.

Hello, I recently bought a lg g2 from craigslist and realized that this problem was occurring. I tried fixing it by factory resetting and doing some other stuff, but it just wouldn't work. I then went on and downloaded an app called Dimly from the app store which lowers your screen brightness and have been using it for a while. The next day after, after coming back from school, I was using my phone and realized it was fixed! If you want, please try the app and see if it works for your phone.

"I struggled with this issue for a few months - just so stupid that the phone is fine, but there is that certain area you just cant tap into. It just so happens that little section of screen is the top results of google search results or google map results. Talk about frustrating!

Anyway, I found a software solution - download Aviate - it is a homepage takeover from yahoo in the app store. For whatever reason, this homepage takeover software overrides the qslide software that -I believe -is the cause of the issue. I can now click on top search results, top map locations and finally tell my uber driver where I am trying to go from the app!"
