old onan generator with fuel broken fuel bowl

old onan generator with fuel broken fuel bowl The fuel bowl on my old onan generator and can't find a replacement. Can I just put a fuel shutoff lever in the line and do away with the bowl all together?

Yes. The bowl was used to collect debris and could tell you if you have water in the fuel so removing it wont hurt the machine.
