How do I unlock an iPod touch?

How do I unlock an iPod touch?

I have an ipod touch that is "DISABLED". This has been laying around in the lost and found for months, I've finally decided I'm going to claim it if I can get it to work.

Help me, there are a few ways that you can try. Some will delete that data on the drive (which in your case might be a good thing). Try this : Plug the iPod into computer.Hold down the power button for about 5 seconds until you see the "slide to power off button". Slide the red button.Immediately hold down both power and home buttons until you see the apple logo. When you see the apple logo, release the power button, but continue to hold down the menu button until you see a picture of a USB cable with an arrow and iTunes on your iPod.Then restore the iPod with iTunes. If you are using Windows :-) here is a copy of my answer to a very similar question "there is a way to erase the password but I am not sure if this would work when you are already disabled. I guess you can always try and hope you have a windows computer :-) anyhow you plug in your iPod. Open My Computer (or Computer for Vista). Click on Folder options and enable to view hidden files. Next go to iPod_control and click on the folder named Device. If your iPod is locked, there will be a file _locked . Rename the file to _unlocked. Remove your iPod and it will be cleared, again not sure if it works for a disabled one. Also check what Apple has to say about that on here http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1808 You can also try to use recboot which possibly gets your device into recovery mode. Here is another answer similar to yours. Hope this helps, good luck.

You need to use a computer that has iTunes. Plug the ipod into the computer, open itunes, then close itunes. Then hold the power and home buttons down for about 20 seconds. http://www.howtoselloncraigslistebook.co... When the ipod resets, open iTunes and reset the iPod.

If you encrypt an iPod Touch backup on iTunes and then forget your password, you will not be able to restore from backup and your data will be unrecoverable. If you forget the password, you can continue to back up and use the device, however you will not be able to restore the encrypted backup to any device without the password. You do not need to enter the password for your backup each time you back up or sync.
