Why won't camera turn on for taking picture

Why won't camera turn on for taking picture My camera won't turn on to take pictures. only come on in play back mode. soon as I turn mode button it shuts off.

@gilligan2165 it could do that if your cameras lens is stuck. Check for some solutions on here
