new battery but screen black Hi I'm having this problem as well when I turn the camera on it's a Canon sx740 HS I can turn the camera on a lens would come out but the screen is very dark when I shine it in the sun or use a flashlight I can see everything on the screen but it's extremely dark can someone please help

It appears as though the backlight is not working in the LCD screen.

This could be due to a faulty backlight power feed on the motherboard, a faulty flex cable connection between the motherboard and the LCD screen or a faulty LCD screen.

The camera would have to opened and the fault further diagnosed as to the actual cause of the problem.

Was the camera dropped at all or did it get wet?

How old is the camera?

Research online seems to show that it is a newly released model. At least within the last 12 months.

If the camera was not dropped or did not get wet and if you’ve had the camera from new and it is less than 12 months old, consult the manufacturer’s warranty statement that came with the camera as to what you have to do to make a claim for a manufacturer’s warranty repair or replacement."
