Need to replace original lens LUMIX 20-1200 scratched

"Depending on the severity of the scratch, it may not impact the camera. It devalues it (or the lens if micro 4/3, mirrorless or DSLR), but most scratches don’t affect the image at all or the effect is so minor it’s not worth replacing the lens and taking the resale penalty - unless you shoot where it has an impact. It’s usually a tiny issue in the corner only one person is going to spot or minor contrast loss at worst.

People will buy these lenses and cameras for the discount if it has no impact so you aren’t out the ability to sell it to someone who is cool with it at a 50%+ discount but may want to see test photos or do it themselves to be sure if selling locally. But you ARE going to feel it when you resell and won’t forget. There is a healthy market for blemished lenses like this, but it always comes with a resale penalty. People don’t care if the price matches because of the above mentioned reason, but it can’t affect the image in such a way that it’s noticeable.

Test it with a few photos in multiple environments and see if it affects the image first."
