"Well, the IFIXIT team just took apart the Xs Max and they made a comment the face facing camera is not mounted on the display like the older models so I guess that answers the question No!

No, The connector to the motherboard is slightly different, therefore cannot be plugged in.

I can confirm it works fine, Just a difference in the metal clips down either side of the screen frame, So no good for replacement, But handy for data retrieval etc

Just to give my experience, today i grab a X screen as customer told me is a X. I test lcd everything works, i go to close it and it won’t fit due snaps. After verify the iPhone is a XS dam, custumer agree to cut all snaps and glue it. It work flawless so far. So X and XS are compatible the only problem is the metal snaps that won’t fit, cut will always solve but you risk in damage it
