I was getting a red screen that flashed briefly before loop booting (froot looping?) back to the Apple Logo. I tried to restore 10 times before it finally worked. I disconnected the Front Camera Flex on the last three attempts.

"Is the phone jailbroken. Does it pop up on itunes when plugged in?

If it pops up on itunes do a hard reset. hold the sleep and home down together until you see the ""Plug into itunes"" icon.

alot of times the red screen or blue screen is a result of damage to the screws in the con shield over the lcd cables(screws set in the wrong place or direct damage to the logic board in the screw hole) or your camera flex cable is broken. at least in my experience
