How do I sew a merino wool base layer?

How do I sew a merino wool base layer? I have a pair of well worn merino wool base layer bottoms that I am looking to repair. I want to know the correct way to sew this particular knit so that I can fix them without ruining the integrity of the bottoms. Thank you.

I use wool felting to repair my wool socks and merino underwear. Works really well.
