Fujifilm instanx mini 9 black slide of new film cartridge is stuck

I placed a new cartridge into my camera and took the first picture (the black slide) and it made the sound it usually makes when the film is about to come out. However, I waited for the black slide to come out and it never did. I also tried replacing the batteries and that didnt work.. I also opened the back where the film is at because I read it somewhere and that too didnt work... someone please help!!
