"First any parts for the new 5c won't be available for quite awhile.

As to the battery its' self its' just to soon to tell if Apple altered things so the connections are not compatible. You will need to wait for the IFIXIT teardown to see what is discovered.

If you have a working battery in your phone now I wouldn't waste the money (or risks of damaging) swapping the battery to try to get the few minutes more of life the slightly larger battery offers if that was your intent."

No they are different wattage and voltage they are not compatable. If they connections are the same using the wrong battery will fry your iPhone 5 board. I am a repair tech and I see it all the time I makes your phone not last as long and can cause your problems.

battery not the same, the 5C battery is longer

It fits but the connector is 3 poles instead of 4 poles. If you plug it leaving the 4th contact unused the phone will power on, but it will reboot after the apple logo.

Thanks for all this info. I took my iphone battery out of my phone and put it in my son's phone. And then it would charge fine. His battery was dead.
