MY SCHOOL HOUSE, MY TEACHER, MY HERO SEARCH MECHANICS
I. RATIONALEThis Search is a tribute to all teachers who make things happen, turn the impossible to possible, do some miracles, and perform all sorts of magic because of their deep commitment to education. With this, they will be able to fulfill their dreams for their pupils and students to have a better chance in life through education. More than anything, it will showcase once again and even more that our teachers are truly heroes of our country.II. OBJECTIVES

- Highlight the significant role of teachers as genuine heroes of education;
- Recognize the singular efforts of teachers in improving education in the country;
- Provide free and decent school houses to deserving schools through the efforts of the teachers;
- Inspire others to contribute in sincere nation-building efforts; and,
- Instill awareness and drum up support for the Teachers' Month Campaign and World Teachers' Day celebration.
IV. JUDGING
- The Search is open to bonafide public kindergarten, elementary and secondary teachers nationwide.
- Each teacher shall submit only one entry.
- To join, a teacher should, in an essay, nominate a public kindergarten, elementary or secondary school, be able to tell his/her story and justify why the nominated school deserves to be awarded a free school house.
- The essay/story may either be in English or Filipino. It must include a short history of the nominated school and its current situation or special circumstance.
- The essay/story-entry must be accompanied with the following:
- Clear Photo of the Nominated Classroom and School Showing its Overall Condition (Complete Photo Documentation of all School Buildings)
- Complete Name of the Nominating Teacher
- Complete Home Address, Email Address, Mobile Number and Other Contact Details of the Teacher
- Grade/Year Level Assignment
- Complete Name of the School, Address and Contact Number
- Name of the School Head
- Other school-related data such as the number of existing classrooms and its condition, number of teachers, number of students, teacher-student ratio, classification of the school (whether black, blue, red) in accordance with DepEd standard and other pertinent information.
- The essay/story-entry must be headed by a title.
- The essay/story-entry must be sent via email to depedtmc@yahoo.com. It may also be sent via snail mail or fast courier service to the DepEd-CSCA, Ground Floor, Mabini Bldg., DepEd Complex, Meralco Avenue, Pasig City.
- Entries must be submitted as soon as possible. Deadline shall be on 15 September 2011.
- The entry must also be accompanied with a signed Certification/Honor Pledge of the School Head that the teacher is a bonafide public school teacher of his/her school; that the entry is an original composition of the teacher; that the facts/information stated therein are true and correct based on his/her personal knowledge; and that it was specifically made for the 2011 Teachers' Month Campaign and World Teachers' Day celebration.
- My Phone and the Department of Education reserve the right to reprint the winning essay/story-entry in a future publication. The teacher of any submitted essay/story-entry may republish the unedited submission as desired six months after initial publication by the Search organizers.
- Decision of the Judges is final and irrevocable.
V. PRIZES
- After the deadline, the Selection Committee composed of representatives from My Phone and DepEd shall make a shortlist of entries to three per region. These three finalist-entries per region shall be uploaded to www.facebook.com/depedtmc on September 20, 2011 to start the online voting. To be able to vote, interested individuals must first "LIKE" the page of the Teachers' Month Campaign and World Teachers' Day of the Department of Education. Online votes shall constitute 10% of the criteria for judging.
- Winners of the Search shall be selected by a distinguished panel of judges from My Phone and DepEd.
- One winner for every region will be selected.
- Judging shall be based on the following criteria:
- 40% - Special Needs/Circumstances of the School
- 30% - Story of the Nominating Teacher
- 20% - Over-all Impact on the Community
- 10% - Online Votes Garnered on Facebook
The winning beneficiary-schools shall each receive one School House composed of two classrooms courtesy of My Phone.VI. CONDITIONS
To ensure that the award of free School Houses addresses the classroom shortage of the school-beneficiary, the School Head and the Nominating Teacher shall further certify/indicate the following:
VII. AWARDING CEREMONIES
- Availability of space or lot inside the school premises;
- Commitment to provide the electrical requirements and concrete base or foundation of the School House per specification of My Phone;
- Commitment to fully utilize the School House as a classroom and assign it as the classroom of the Nominating Teacher; and,
- Commitment to return the structure should there be false representations in the nomination or failure to abide by the conditions set forth in this guidelines.
The Awarding Ceremonies will be held on October 5, 2011 during the World Teachers' Day celebration organized by the DepEd Central Office.
