As years passes by the word HONESTY and it's real value slowly decreases and was set aside. We Filipino is one of country known to have a very unique moral values system which comes from our great grand parents.
In this generation this "VALUE" still existed?..Are we Filipino alright of the statistic being shown that we are one of the corrupt country in Asia?..Then the question where is our Honesty value goes?..Are we satisfied or accepted the quotation that was given to us by other races.?
But even though we have this negative quotation to other countries but I strongly believe that we Filipino still strongly value our culture and traditions.
Especially on this article that I will share to you because I am so impressed to the concept in preserving our Filipino values.
Values are defined as standards or principles that are inculcated in the minds of people to be morally right, such as the understanding of the values of honesty, integrity and good character. It is a mental state that guides a person to be obedient, God-fearing, courageous, respectful and law-abiding or generally a principle, standard or quality of life considered worthwhile or desirable or worthy of emulation. These values are what the Honesty Store concept is all about.
The honesty store concept is not new. It traces its origins from the Boodle Bar of the Philippine Military Academy (PMA) where transactions are done through a logbook honesty system. To every cadet, the academy motto of Courage, Loyalty, and Integrity, resounds well in each transaction: courage to do good and just acts, loyalty to one’s inherent and God-given goodness, and strengthening of integrity amidst today’s moral crisis.
Like that of the Boodle Bar, the Honesty Store promotes and reinforces the values of courage, loyalty and integrity in every transaction. It is an answer to a crisis very much present in today’s modern age — that of degrading values and morals.
Simply put, the Honesty Store is an ordinary "shelf” with goodies that exists for no ordinary reason, but for an extraordinary mission of value formation.

1) Honest Exchange
Buying something from the Honesty Store is rooted on an honest exchange. If you want something from
the Store, you have to pay for it without anyone to receive the payment.
All items and goodies are priced and placed individually within each shelf. A cash box is secured inside the shelf where the buyer will deposit the amount of cash in exchange for what he took.
2) Values Formation
The most important aspect of the Honesty Store is the concept of teaching our youth the values of Honesty, Truth and Justice. We believe that these values are better imparted and learned through experience and in practice than in a classroom setting.
It is also our belief that for these values to be understood by our youth, these must be practiced everyday. The Honesty Store makes this happen.
3) Everyday Heroes
The life of Ens. Phillip Andrew Pestaño, is a life of a modern day hero. Quoting Rev. Fr. James B. Reuter, S.J., "Some military men are killed in battle. They are given a hero’s burial. But Phillip died for a much deeper cause – he was trying to preserve the integrity of our Armed Forces. He died out of loyalty to the Philippines, in an effort to keep the oath that he made when he graduated from the Military Academy.”
The foundation’s program for the Honesty Store involves teaching our youth that they can be "everyday heroes” in small and ordinary acts.
While being a hero is about doing what is right and good, about being a person for others, it is
also about being honest with oneself.
It is said that great heroes are not those motivated towards service to others, but those who are motivated towards self-enhancement and confirmation of personal beliefs.
