The month-long celebration aims to create awareness on the primary role of the schools in the government's effort to promote oral health on its direct link to general health and well-being towards improving learning outcomes and reducing absenteeism.
All public school dentists are advised to coordinate with the Philippine Dental Association (PDA) local chapters on the activities scheduled during the month-long celebration. Enclosed is the schedule of activities initiated by the PDA.
All school health and nutrition personnel, especially the school dentists, are expected to take the lead in the conduct of the aforesaid activities. Reports on accomplishments must be submitted to the Health and Nutrition Center (HNC) on or before March 8, 2013.

8th National Dental Health Month (2013)
The Department of Education (DepEd) will celebrate the 8th National Dental Health Month this February 2012 with the theme "Ngiting Matatamis Ngiping Malilinis, Dala ay Pag-asa Tunay na Ligaya," in consonance with Presidential Proclamation No. 553 dated February 24, 2004.
To promote awareness of this celebration, all public school dentists are advised to coordinate with the Philippine Dental Association (PDA) Local Chapters on the activities scheduled and the conduct of an oral health education in schools; dental services to pupils/students, teaching and non-teaching personnel; 7 o'clock toothbrushing drills and the DepEd-Colgate-Palmolive Philippines, Inc. (CPPI) Zero Cavity Mission Dental Caravan Project. Enclosed is the Schedule of Activities initiated by the PDA.
