Beginning in 1998, you can access both bankruptcy and adversary case documents. Additionally, you can print these documents from your personal computer. However, in order to retrieve the information, a PACER account is required. Alternatively, you can register online by following the site's instructions. After creating an account, you can now access your case's information in CM/ECF.
You have the following options if you wish to obtain copies of documents contained in older bankruptcy records (where they have not been preserved electronically):
You may access copies of all pending court cases by visiting room 713 in Chicago or room 110 in Rockford. The documents for terminated cases are located at the Federal Records Center (FRC). You have the option of visiting FRC or having the copies mailed to you. Familiarize yourself with the procedure for obtaining reproductions of your documents by consulting the FRC information and instructions webpage.
You are required to exhibit a few items prior to contacting FRC. To obtain case information for pending and closed cases in the Northern District of Illinois (Easter Division - Chicago and Western Division - Rockford), please search up their phone number on the internet.
