- commemorate the centennial death anniversary of Gen. Malvar, one of the greatest Filipino generals and heroes of the Philippine Revolution in the mid-1890's to 1897 and of the Philippine Americal War from 1898 to 1899 of which he was the last general to surrender to the Americans; and
- inculcate in the hearts and minds of Filipinos especially the youth that his life and death are testaments of the people's vaunted bravery against overwhelming odds and his willingness to sacrifice for the sake of his countrymen.
To highlight the commemoration, teachers shall include the life, works and achievements of Gen. Malvar in their class discussions during the whole month of October.
Furthermore, a commemorative program will be held on October 13, 2011 at the Malvar Shrine, Sto. Tomas, Batangas at 8:00 a.m. It is further requested that the division officials, teachers and students from nearby schools and members of the Technical Working Committee grace the momentous occasion.
