The Department of Education (DepEd) with the Philippine Commission
on Women (PCW) and the Inter-Agency Council on Violence Against Women
and their Children (IACVAWC) will observe the 18-Day Campaign to End
Violence Against Women with the theme " Unite: Stop VAW, Now!" from
November 25 to December 12, 2011.
The campaign focuses on information dissemination about VAW, especially the services of government agencies (GAs) and non-government organizations (NGOs) to address the needs of VAW victims and survivors. It also highlights the worldwide call to unite and end VAW. The schools and offices are advised to hold the following activities for the campaign: - blowing of the whistle on VAW advocacy as a signal to halt VAW with simultaneous blowing of whistle in DepEd offices and schools on December 12, 2011, 8:00 a.m.;
- conduct of the Anti-VAW Forum for awareness-building among students, teachers and personnel; and
- posting of campaign streamers in front of schools and offices.
All expenses relative to the campaign shall be charged to local and school funds and Human Resource Training and Development (HRTD) Funds for the Central Office (CO), subject to the usual accounting and auditing rules and regulations.
