Why isn’t my alternator charging?

Why isn’t my alternator charging? My alternator isn’t getting the signal to tell it to charge the electrical system. Took it in and tested it works fine. Battery light came on a day ago now there is no power being generated. Checked the fuses and continuity all were fine. Is it a computer issue? Is there something I’m missing?
