Monitor shows picture then turns off when using HDMI

Monitor shows picture then turns off when using HDMI My Asus vk248h-csm monitor will display video for 1-2 seconds before going black if I'm using an HDMI cable. Audio plays the entire time. If a cable is plugged in I can not use any buttons on the monitor except the power button. Menu/brightness/input all stop working. When the HDMI is disconnected the screen goes bright blue(backlight working perfectly fine) and says HDMI input not detected.
