Drying slowly fix or replace?

Drying slowly fix or replace?

My dryer is about 10 years old and is not drying like it used to, would it be better to try to fix, maybe the heating element, or with it being this old is it better to replace it?

ANSWERS:

Check the dryer's filter(s) for lint clogging. Also check for the same on the air discharge hose located on the back of the dryer. You can also go outside to where the air discharge vent is located and see if you are getting good air discharge pressure there. If the air circulation is impeded, then drying capability is also impeded. Make sure there are no kinks or abrupt turns in the discharge hose that will allow lint buildup. Unless your dryer uses a dual heating coil setup with one coil burnt out/broken, your dryer should be working fine. Best to check for air circulation blockage first, imho.
