Talking, sounds goes scratchy and then goes away completely

Talking, sounds goes scratchy and then goes away completely

While talking the sound starts scrathing and then quickly makes a loud distortion noise, also the party on the other side can no longer hear me. This does not happen with each call but is becoming steadily worse.
