Why wont my instax mini 8 take a picture?

Why wont my instax mini 8 take a picture?

I have not used my Instax mini 8 in a while, I have cleaned the battery compartment, I bought new film, and batteries! The red light in the back lights up, thus indicating it is on, yet when I press the button to take a picture it won't! The lights on the barrel won't turn on either!
