Uniden Dect 6.0 handset displays the word searching

I just recently purchased the Uniden Dect 6.0 cordless phone with 6 hand sets. One of the handsets that came in the original box has been fully charged and is now displaying the word ‘searching’ on the display screen. Please advise.
