HTC Vive controller - Charging begins and stops after a minute

HTC Vive controller - Charging begins and stops after a minute

My vive controllers are like new, barely used. One of them begins charging and then after a minute or two stops without getting charge. Tried putting external battery pack on just to see if it would power up but no luck. Help!
