MACHE DOLL CIRCA 1860's - 1880's ERAThis antique doll is just fabulous and rarely seen in this size of approximately 31.5"" (so probably a 32"" doll). I have seen these dolls at half this size going for my asking price but she is not perfect so have priced her accordingly.I believe she is known as a Pumpkin Head Doll and more than likely English made but am unsure. She came to me with some issues and has been restored as to not take away her originality and is now a fabulous display piece. She is wax over papier mache and as expected for her age she has some crazing and surface cracks to her wax shoulderplate. The last couple of photos show some damage she had to the back of her head prior to restoration and now all covered. She has bulging glass blue eyes and blonde moulded hair with a white moulded flower on the side. Her lips have been touched up and there are some paint touch ups to her blonde hair. Her cloth body is in remarkable shape and only required a repair to one leg. She is wood or excelsior filled. Her arms and legs are carved from wood and then painted and totally original with no touch ups.The amazing thing is that her clothing is mostly original and in overall very good shape with some fading to her frock and some age marks that remained after cleaning. Underneath she has a white cotton petticoat with some pleats and trimmed with lace, a red flannel petticoat that does have some holes, and pantaloons. Her bonnet was made for her but it is believed she did have one originally. At the back of her head some blonde mohair has been added to hide the head damage and the blue ribbon has been carefully glued around the head to keep everything in place. This really is a superb antique doll and museum quality. It is unlikely as a collector that you will see another of this size with original clothing and the only one I have ever owned. She can easily sit in a large charge. Please email me if you have any further questions. Buyer is responsible for postage and packaging and if substantially cheaper than showing once insurance is applied a refund is provided on the difference. This doll will require some very careful packaging and I have set the postage and packaging cost within Australia at $40 despite I do believe it will be cheaper even with full insurance. ALL BIDDERS PLEASE NOTE: Unless a request is received for more time, if payment is not received within 3 days of auction close, items may be relisted. This condition is as a result of some previous time-wasters who spoil it for everyone." PicturesShare this AdAdvertised byAd Phone Number: | |
