CHARACTER BABY MAX HANDERCK ""BEBE ELITE"" 21"" This is an antique character baby doll made by Max Handwerck, Germany and would date to the 1900's era. She measures in length approximately 21"" and is a lovely sized doll to display in a pram or high chair. She has been a well played with doll and as such had some restoration which I will describe. The bisque socket head has no damage but she has some rub marks on her cheeks and nose from many years of being played with. She has her original deep brown glass eyes with delicately stroked upper and lower eyelashes and the usual red accent dot in the corner of each eye and her nostrils. Her eyelids have been re-painted. Her eyelashes are multi stroked and she has been given some ""real"" upper eyelashes when minor restoration was done to her. She retains her original red tongue but is missing her 2 upper teeth and her original lip painting is lovely. She has a chubby chin with a little dimple in it. She has a lovely blonde mohair wig with some waves in it and it even retains the original tag indicating it was Made in Germany also and an antique cardboard pate underneath. These have been removed to stuff the head to protect the eyes in transit and can be simply glued back on using any PVA glue (water soluable). The back of her head is marked with ""Max Handwerck, Bebe Elite, 90/185, 11, Germany"". Her bent limbed composition baby body is original to her and even has impressed on it ""Elite, 6"" on the back. The body was in aged condition and as such it was re-painted and restored where necessary and now only has minor chips to the paintwork. At the time this was done she was also re-strung so sits beautifully. She comes dressed in a lovely fine voile frock with pinch pleating on it and then heavily trimmed with lace and ribbon. The fabric of the frock appears to be antique. Over the top she wears an antique baby's jacket in a wool mix fabric with cotton crocheting around the edges and hand embroidered flowers on the bodice and sleeves. Underneath she has a vintage or antique petticoat trimmed with lace and more modern pantaloons. Her bootees are made from knitted silk thread and with an embroidered flower on them. Her bonnet is from the 1960's and is a Maude Wilson tagged bonnet. This character baby is not often seen in Australia and a lovely one to have amongst any collection. She is just ready to display. Buyer is responsible for postage and packaging. This doll will be sent fully insured to the winner within Australia. If p & p is substantially cheaper than showing I will refund the difference.
