The activity seeks to provide public school teachers with comprehensive training on developing lesson exemplars and applied classroom teaching methodologies which explore the tools of Understanding by Design (UbD), Multiple Intelligences (MIs) Skills, and Mother Tongue-Based Multilingual Education (MTB-MLE) through culture-based, integrative and interactive teaching approaches across the BEC. Specifically, the objectives of the training-writeshop are to:
- train the teacher-participants on the integration of culture-based contents and creative pedagogies in teaching the core subject areas; and
- produce and disseminate culture-based lesson exemplars for classroom teaching application.
The NCCA shall provide the scholarship programs with free tuition/registration, workshop kits and materials, and all meals for the duration of the workshop for the first thirty (30) participants for each region-clustered workshop nominated and endorsed by the schools division/city superintendents (SDSs), district supervisors, or heads of elementary and secondary schools. Transportation, accommodation and other expenses not covered by the scholarship provisions shall be charged to local funds.
Each participant shall be charged a registration fee of One Thousand Pesos (PhP1,000.00) to cover expenses for tuition, workshop kits and materials. They shall also be responsible for all other relative expenses which may be charged to local funds.

Background and Rationale
With the completion of the Philippine Cultural Index Project (PCIP) and the Essential Knowledge on Philippine Arts, Culture and Heritage for the Basic Education Curriculum (EKPACHBEC), the Philippine Cultural Education Program (PCEP) shifts into four of the most urgent tasks and deliverables in its 11-point program objectives delineated as follows:
- To ensure utilization of the Philippine Cultural Map/Index and the Essential Cultural Knowledge competencies pursuant to the provisions of the Philippine Cultural Heritage Act (Republic Act 10066) which mandates the teaching of cultural heritage in all schools;
- To develop basic instructional materials, such as textbooks, teaching-learning manuals, and multimedia materials for cultural education;
- To create, inventory, and package culture and arts kits and self-contained modules for cultural education; and
- To provide a comprehensive trainors' training paradigm on culture and arts.
Description
The three-day training-writeshops will address the following objectives:
- To train a minimum of 400 teacher-participants nationwide on integration of culture-based contents and creative pedagogies in teaching the core subject areas; and
- To produce and disseminate culture-based lesson exemplars for classroom teaching application.

Participation, Eligibilities and Scholarship Provisions
- Each of the four (4) region-cluster training-writeshops will have seventy five (75) subsidized scholar-participants from the ranks of education supervisors, area subject coordinators, and classroom teachers of Science, Mathematics, Language (English or Filipino), Social Studies, and MAPEH/MSEPP. All scholarship applicants must be between 23 - 50 years old and have taught one or a combination of the aforementioned subjects for at least three (3) years.
- The program is open to the first thirty five (35) nominated participants on a "first-to-register, first-accepted" basis. Each Division Office is allowed to endorse and nominate a maximum of three (3) participants provided that at least two of the nominees are classroom school teachers and the other may be a subject area coordinator. They shall be provided scholarships in the form of free tuition/registration, workshop kits and materials and all meals for the duration of the workshop. However, transportation and accommodation costs shall be borne by the participants who may source them from local funding.
- Another thirty five (35) pre-qualified participants from scholar-beneficiaries of the host-institution's Graduate Certificate Program in Cultural Education (CPCE) will join the program on full-scholarship basis.
- A limited number of extra participants (maximum of 15) who will not qualify as scholars or subsidized participants shall be accepted upon payment on site of the minimal registration fee of One Thousand Pesos Only (PHp 1,000) to defray the administrative and related costs of the program. They are expected to bear the full cost of transportation, meals, accommodation and other participation-related expenses which may be sourced from local funds.
- Interested participants should submit the duly accomplished nomination form signed by recognized authority and the duly accomplished registration form signed by the teacher-applicant;
