The Contest aims to:
- develop the confidence and competence of the Filipino math wizards as they participate in the Asian International Mathematics Olympiad and in the Search for the Asian Math Wizards;
- fulfill the Philippines’ dream to go for gold; and
- promote the development and enhancement of problem solving skills.
As a response to President Aquino’s "Go for Gold” Program, the MTG, Philipines and the MDAP have chosen 126 and 59 Filipino math wizards from both public and private elementary and secondary schools to represent the country in the aforesaid international math competitions.
The students who will be embarking for the abovementioned math contests had passed the series of MTG intensive training programs. The selection was based on their remarkable performances during the In-House Training Program and Mathematical Olympiad Summer Training Program.
